Mommies: Do you know how to dry leather?
My husband had to work in the rain all day yesterday, so his leather tool bag is soaked. I assume you can’t put it in the dryer…any ideas?

My husband is a master carpenter and gets his leather tool pouch wet all the time.
Air dry!
It will stiffen up after being wet, so use a saddle soap or saddle oil to soften the leather. If you don’t have either, you could use a small amount of baby oil or even clear suntan oil to soften the leather, but it won’t absorb into the leather as well. You can get saddle soap/oil at the drugstore or Target–it’s pretty easy to find.
Nice thing is, every time you clean the pouch this way, you are not only protecting the leather, but helping to prevent rust on the hand tools contained in the pouch. It will also weatherize the pouch so it will eventually shed water rather than absorbing it.
I do this with my husband’s work boots too–it keeps them nice and looking new longer.
