How do I know what kind of a singing voice I have?
like how can i find out if i’m a bass, baritone, or tenor? i don’t have a vocal trainer or know anybody who knows about that stuff.
You need to find your passagios, or ‘breaks’ between low, middle and high registers. Then, you need to figure out where you’re most comfortable singing. Lastly, the colour and weight of your voice matters. Since I’m not a guy, I don’t know much about male voices, but I would suggest that if you want to find out accurately, you find your school chorus director (if you’re still in school) and ask him/her to vocalise you (go through your whole range) and teach you the basics of singing so that your true sound can emerge. I know for a fact that many untrained sopranos look like they’re mezzo-sopranos, until they get to some lessons and learn how to sing correctly (I’m one of those). They find all these notes in their range that nobody thought they had, and their sound acquires a brighter ‘ring’ that makes them true sopranos instead of mezzos.
